AMESON A50 VALVE (Tube if you live in the fringes) GUITAR AMPLIFIER - ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATION

Single channel all valve amplifier with high and low gain inputs, with gain, bass, middle, treble, volume controls.
    Valve complement to be 2 x ECC83, 1 x ECC81, 2 x 6V6, EL34, 6L6 or KT88 - dependent on model.
To be available in 18 Watt, 50 Watt and 75 Watt versions

All components used to be carefully chosen and more than adequately rated for best reliability and performance. And I mean this..

Aluminium chassis for light weight and period low magnetic interaction.
Power transformer to be core shielded toroid for maximum power/weight ratio and low noise performance.
Output transformer is purpose designed, flash tested to 4kV. To support 4/8/16 Ohm speaker loads.
Circuit design to be traditional with my own optimised values. NO presence control. NO effects loop. NO drive channel s**t. NO reverb. NO DFX..
Power supply to use solid state rectifiers. The advantage over using a valve rectifier is too great to ignore, both in engineering and playability terms. The more energy in the power supply the better...
Custom made FR4 fibreglass turret board construction for easy servicing, and all switching jacks to be Gold plated
Build standard to be as impeccable as I can make it.. (See picture below)

Case to constructed from 12mm Birch plywood for strength and lightness, with choice of coverings, styles, and pipings. Style: All credit to Lyndon Laney and Jim Marshall for this one - this is a perfect and acceptable format. And it looks great. Size: 8" x 22" x 8" (HWD). Weight: approx 10Kg.

Ameson Valve Sound device fitted as standard * See note about this on the "overview" page.
Build standard to be as impeccable as I can make it.
Case again to be constructed from 12mm Birch plywood for strength and lightness, with choice of coverings, styles, and pipings. Style: All credit to Lyndon Laney and Jim Marshall for this one - this is a perfect and acceptable format. And it looks great. Size: 8" x 22" x 8" (HWD). Weight: approx 10Kg.

AMESON MOSFET BASS AMPLIFIER ARCHITECTURAL SPECIFICATION

Single channel design with choice of active (low sensitivity) and passive (high sensitivity) inputs. On jacks.
Input stage has Gain control and Switchable compressor and Enhance control
EQ. Bass control, 7 band low mid - high mid graphic, Treble control.
Master Volume control and Limiter defeat switch (your choice boy...)
    XLR balanced DI output
MAJ traditional Hitachi Mosfet output stage - Open, short, thermal, and bad load protection. Available in 190 Watts rms, 250 Watts, or 320 Watts rms into 4 Ohm versions.
Build standard to be as impeccable as I can make it.
Case yet again to be constructed from 12mm Birch plywood for strength and lightness, with choice of coverings, styles, and pipings. Style: All credit to Lyndon Laney and Jim Marshall for this one - this is a perfect and acceptable format. And it looks great. Size: 8" x 22" x 8" (HWD). Weight: approx 10Kg. 320 Watt version case is same but 12" deep, and weight is 13Kgs..
Oh the volume and gain controls go to eleven.. Yes thats right - not 8 or ten - ELEVEN. Must be louder than one that goes to ten then...

The Ameson RS Jazz 90

Unbelievable sonic performance and very cost effective.

Input stage: Composite two section high impedance input stage with 20X gain. Uses selected audiophile passive components and precision operational amplifiers for superb performance and low noise
Equalisation: Three section classic active (Baxandall) network with selected component values for optimised response for guitar.
Output stage: Mosfet based output stage for ultra low distortion and noise. Core screened purpose designed toroidal transformer for maximum efficiency.
Power output: Minimum load recommended load impedance is 8 Ohms. Amplifier produces 85 Watts rms into 8 Ohm speaker load, 60 Watts rms into 16 Ohm load (at clip point). Operation into loads of less than 8 ohms is possible at LOW level only, due to possibility of overheating of the case. (Dedicated 4 Ohm or 16 Ohm versions may be available in the future at extra cost)
Effects Loop: Series loop preceding power amplifier and line output jack (Sensitivity: 0dB) Gold plated switching jack. For use with unity gain ground isolated FX only.
    Line Output: Sensitivity is 0dB
    Reverb/on board FX: NO

Voltage: Euro 230V (Supports English 240V and 220V European supplies). American 120V version to order from 12/04/2012

Connectors: All preamplifier jacks are Neutrik items, for maximum connectivity and reliability. Switching jacks are gold plated.
Chassis: Aluminium 16swg case for light weight and maximum heat transfer. No self tapping screws here
Accessories supplied: Speaker lead - English jack plugs on 2ft Neoprene cable. Mains lead - 2m. moulded with local plug. Spare mains fuse (2A) located in mains inlet fuse drawer.

Serviceability: Roy has asked me to point out that these amplifiers are hand built in England, and can thus be serviced or repaired now or in 50 years time by ANY half qualified engineer sporting a pair of hits or tands. (Brain preferable, but probably not absolutely neccessary in most cases...)

The Ameson RS Jazz 90

"Jazz guitarists are a pernickety breed regarding amplifier choice. After all, the amplifier/loudspeaker is virtually half the instrument and the best guitar in the world will not sound great with inferior equipment. I think I am right in saying that most jazz players require these qualities from an amp:-

Warm, clean sound.
Sweet sounding throughout the range, especially the treble.
Clean chord sound with good definition.
Crisp, warm bass register.
Lightweight.

Michael has now come up with the ideal individually made amp head. I chose an arrangement of a great standard, "Someone to watch over me", to demonstrate how beautifully this amp delivers the above qualities - and his new Electro-voice DVX loaded cabinets are simply amazing.."

Roy Sainsbury

"This is simply the most beautiful sounding valve amp I have ever heard. Its warm big sound compares favourably with the vintage amps of the 1940's and 50's but with a much higher output suitable for today's musical situations. It is very light and compact weighing in at only 19 pounds. Being completely hand-assembled and wired, it is not cheap, but why would you ever need to buy another amp again". - Roy Sainsbury

"I am lucky enough to own both the Ameson RS 120 and the Ameson RS Tube 50 amps and both are superb. I have just completed recording a CD with trumpet great Bruce Adams and the engineers at the studio were absolutely bowled over by the sound of the amp. Please feel free to quote me" - Tony Marshall (Tony works with many world class jazz musicians such as Warren Vache, Scott Hamilton, Kenny Baker, etc. His brilliant new recording with Bruce Adams is now on release.)
